I went to Spain in May 2010, and I really like to go there around this time of the year because the flowers start to bloom and it is warm, but not too much. However, this time I went in April (2012) which is known as a windy and rainy month with some sunny days too. This is the month of the Easter festival (Holy Week or Semana Santa), and it is a typical Spanish custom to find procession of people wearing traditional clothing all over the country. Those people who are participating in the procession (brotherhood) wear a cape, tunic, hood, etc, of different colours, and some of these members are going to carry a statue of Christ, Virgin Mary, or another figures of the Bible. Together with the procession there is a music band.
This festivity is NOT related in any way with the United States organization called Ku Klux Klan (KKK).
Estuve en España el pasado Mayo 2010. Es un mes que realmente me gusta porque las flores empiezan a florecer y hace calor, aunque no mucho. De todas maneras esta vez fui en Abril (2012). Es un mes tradicionalmente conocido por el viento y la lluvia, aunque también hay dias soleados. Además, es bien conocido por la fiesta de Semana Santa, durante la cual es típico que los miembros de las cofradias o procesiones vistan, entre otras cosas, una capa, una túnica y un capirote de distintos colores. Algunos de los miembros van a llevar a cuestas la estatua de alguno de los personajes de la Biblia, aunque lo más comunes son el Cristo y la Virgen María. Y la procesión viene acompanada con la banda de música.
Para evitar malentendidos es necesario que entendáis que esta fiesta NO esta relacionada de ninguna manera con la organización Estadounidense llamada Ku Klux Klan (KKK).
