The rock dove, Columbia livia, is a member of the family Columbidae, which is originally from Europe, Africa and Asia, and it was introduced in North America in 1606. Nowadays you can find it near to the sea, but also in farmlands, towns, and almost any city in the world. In addition, it is a non-migratory bird, which prefers to live in high places, and it eats mainly seeds and grains, but also insect, fruit, vegetation, and almost anything it can find.
La paloma bravía, Columbia livia, es un miembro de la familia Columbidae, que es originario de Europa, Asia y África, y el cual fue introducido en Norteamérica en 1606. Hoy en día lo podemos encontrar cerca del mar, pero también en granjas, pueblos, y casi todas las ciudades del mundo. Además, es un ave no migratoria, la cual prefiere vivir en lugares altos como pisos, y la cual se alimenta principalmente de cereales, pero también de insectos, frutos, vegetación, y casi cualquier cosa que se encuentre.
It is monagamous bird, which is going to be with the same partner of live. This bird is pale with two black bars on each wing, and it has a dark bluish-gray head, neck, and chest with glossy yellowish, greenish, and reddish-purple iridescence along its neck and wing feathers. Also, the iris is orange, red or golden with a paler inner ring, and the bare skin round the eye is bluish-grey. In the other hand, the adult female is almost identical, but the iridescence on the neck is less intense and the breast is very obscure.
Podemos identificarla por las dos franjas de color negro que hay en cada una de sus alas, pero además por su cabeza de color azul oscuro, y su cuello y pello de un color metálico oscuroque varía entre el amarillo, el verde y un rojo-púrpura. Por otra parte, el iris de su ojo puede ser de color naranja, rojo, o amarillo. Por el otro lado, la hembra es casi idéntica al macho, pero el cuello tiene un tono más apagado y el pecho es más oscuro.
